Grace Langley (nee Roebuck) - Page 2

Left: Another photo of Grace taken in the 1920s.  Her hat is fairly typical of one of the styles of the day.  She is now allowed to show her ankles, although the dark skirt is still prevalent.  In this photo she is part of a family group, which will appear in full on the Groups page.

Right: A snapshot of Grace (right) with her parents on holiday at a boarding house.  It was typical of the time to have photographers come round and take such photos for souvenirs.  This photo would be of similar date to the preceding one, but definitely before 1925 when her mother died.

Right: A studio portrait of Grace, as a teenager or into her twenties.  She is wearing typical Edwardian dress here: dark blouse, collar, brooch at the neckline, hair worn up.

Left: Grace married Spencer Langley on 4th September 1926, at Endcliffe Methodist Church Sheffield.  This studio photo shows Grace's youngest sister Cynthia, the little blonde girl on the left seated on the stool.  Also Grace's father George Thomas Roebuck I to the right of the bride.

Is the young girl on the right Dallas?  And who is everyone else?

Right: Still at Grace and Spencer's wedding, this must be the throwing of the confetti.  Note how many cloche hats are being worn, the fashion of the moment.  Spencer is wearing spats, a type of shoe fashionable at the time.

Left:  A few years later, this is the famous Four Generations picture, taken on the seating near the promenade at Blackpool.  This must be about 1930, given that Kenneth looks about three years old.  From left to right are: Ellen Roebuck (nee Holliday), her son George Thomas Roebuck I, his daughter Grace Langley (nee Roebuck), and Kenneth Spencer Langley, her first son.
