This part of the family is complicated, as there are potentially three Marion Roebucks, fairly closely related. Luckily Cynthia has recorded enough information, which, along with the online Family Tree, sorts out who's who. Two of the Marions are mentioned on this page.
Fred Roebuck was a brother of George Thomas Roebuck I, therefore Cynthia's uncle. He was born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on 2nd August 1893. He was a Town Clerk, which when Rotherham was merely a town meant he was responsible for practicalities, serving the members of the Town Council. Nowadays Rotherham is joined with Sheffield into a large conurbation popularly known as the "People's Republic of South Yorkshire", as the Council is dominated by councillors belonging to the Labour Party.

Left: We have no dating evidence here, apart from how old Fred looks. He could be in his twenties, dating this photo about the time of the First World War or soon after. His style of dress is more flamboyant than that of his brother George Thomas I, and he could be in evening dress, which has changed little over the decades. During the Twenties, elaborate studio backdrops were becoming fashionable, so we must stay with the 1918 estimate.

Right: This photo is of Fred's first wife Marion (nee Wright). They were married on 4th December 1916 in Rotherham. Again we have no definite date, but are probably looking at late 1910s judging by the lace trimmings and jewellery style, and her centre parting and the fact that her ears are showing. Another piece of evidence for late 1910s is the skirt decorated with buttons also favoured by sister- in-law Annie Louisa at about the same time. However the studio setting suggests a little later.
Fred and Marion had one daughter, also Marion, who was born in March 1922. Marion senior seems to have died at around the same time as giving birth to her daughter.
Fred married again, in about March 1925, to May Dobson in Rotherham. They had two more children, Victor and Betty, born in the Ecclesall area of Sheffield. The online Family Tree has these two both born in September 1925. Were they twins? If anyone has Cynthia's paper Family Tree, could they elaborate on this?
Victor and Betty both married in Staffordshire, so there must have been a family move in between. Fred died in September 1949 in the Cheadle district of Staffordshire.
