Anecdote from his niece Cynthia Osborne (nee Roebuck):
"Going on to Uncle Edgar - of course I have many memories of him -a lot of which you must have shared, but I do remember that he gave me my first ballroom dance lesson. We were at a VE-day party in front of the shops on Grayswood Avenue. There was a band or something, and at night there was a dance at which Uncle Edgar instructed me in the arts of ballroom dancing. It was just another childhood memory that sticks out."
Story from his sister Cynthia Clare, as told to Janette:
"The Roebucks were great ones for playing at cards. Whenever people gathered at Edgar's house, he would smile, rub his hands in anticipation, and say 'Does anyone want a game then?'. Out would come card tables, and cups of tea and other sustenance, and we would play various forms of whist, such as Estimation."
