Anecdotes about Cynthia Clare (nee Roebuck)

Anecdote from her niece Cynthia Osborne (nee Roebuck):

"Talking of childhood stories that stick out, the next one involved your [Janette's] mother [Cynthia Clare].  This took place before we left Chorley, and when we were living at 95 Bolton Road, so I couldn't have been very old, perhaps about three or four, which would make your mother about nine or ten.  I remember being squeezed into a doll's pram, and taken from no. 95 down Bolton Rd. to the confectioners shop which the Healds ran.  I don't know what I was wearing, but your mother had a pink and white gingham dress on.  I think she got it in the neck for taking me in the pram down to the shop.  I don't remember being too happy about being in a doll's pram either. I remember trying to get out as we passed the hoardings by the side of no. 95."
