Food

I made a point of trying as many Greek dishes as possible, not always remembering to photograph them unfortunately.

Here is my Greek Tuna Salad, from which in hunger I pinched the garnish before remembering to do the photographic duty:

And here is my swordfish, one of my more ambitious moments.  The garnish on top is red onion and basil.

Other dishes I tried:

Stofado, which is a stew of braised beef and shallots, eaten at the Cactus restaurant.  Flavoured with cloves - wonderful.

Giovetsi, served in brown bowl, small pasta looking like rice grains, braised beef, with cheese on top.  Eaten at Kassandra's restaurant.

Greek salad, complete with olives and feta cheese, eaten at Kassandra's restaurant on the same occasion as the swordfish.

Cheese and spinach pies, like little pasties, eaten at Kalh Kardia bar.

Mixed souvlaki, kebabs with different kinds of meat, with cheese pies and honey, plus fresh fruit salad for afters, eaten at Kalh Kardia bar.

Cheese and bacon pies, like large sausage roll with sesame seed on the outside, bought at bakery.

Greek tomato soup, nice flavour of red peppers and garlic, eaten at Palirria restaurant.

Lamb kleftikon, neck of lamb braised, and topped with soft cheese or yoghurt containing chopped peppers.  Lamb was very cheap cut.  Eaten at Palirria restaurant.

Pastitsio, served in brown bowl, bechamel sauce on top like moussaka, under that minced beef and large macaroni.
