Covered market, Chania

Back to Crete 2004 page

The covered market, or "Agora", was built in one of the main town squares, the "1897 square", in 1911.  It was built in the shape of a cross.  It sells a lot of fresh meat, fish and cheese, as well as non-foods and souvenirs.

Actually this fish stall was from a shop on 1866 square, but very similar fare to several on the market.

Below: swordfish.  I had one of his relatives for dinner one night!
