These pictures were taken from Pano Platanias, alias Upper Platanias, alias Old Platanias village. It shows what a big resort Aghia Marina has become, although only the coast road stretch is busy and commercialised - the rest is apartment and residential accommodation. The blue building near the bottom left is probably the side of the Epimenidis Apartments and bar, which we have frequented a lot, and the first time we went, we stayed up the street, inland from there. This time we stayed right by the beach, about halfway along the coastal strip.
Similar view, with a few moody flowers in the foreground as per the postcard...
This island is Theodorou, which is uninhabited apart from a native wild goat called the "cri-cri". Boat trips pass close to it, but no one is allowed to land. Just this side of it, there is a wrecked German bomber from the war, on the seabed - you can go on diving trips to see the frame which is all that is left.
